Asian Pacific Islander South Asian American Heritage Month
March 15 to April 15, 2024
Due to the negative connotation related to the word “Desi,” we will now use “Asian Pacific Islander South Asian American Heritage Month” an inclusive term to describe the Asian American community that’s comprised of individuals of East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, West Asian, Central Asian and Pacific Island backgrounds who represent over forty countries and hundreds of languages.
Our annual APISAA (Asian Pacific Islander South Asian American Heritage) Month celebrations take place from March 15 to April 15, and we would love for you to join us! During this Heritage Month, NC State University strives to recognize the presence of the APISSA community through the avenues of unity, visibility, and acknowledgment. Multicultural Student Affairs aspires to not only affirm and empower the recognition of APISSA cultures but also encourage the unification of the many beautiful communities and identities that encompass this population.
