We are a community of scholars:
  • Our primary purpose is to understand the world more deeply and to creatively use that understanding to better the human condition by improving infrastructure, human health, and the environment.
Diversity makes us stronger:
  • Our understanding is deepened and our creativity enhanced by different points of view.
  • People from all backgrounds and walks of life are welcome in CCEE.
We respect everyone:
  • No one should be made to feel unwelcome or unsafe for any reason, including but not limited to: their ethnic or racial background, national origin, gender, sexual orientation or identity, language, religion, disability, familial status, veteran status, socioeconomic status, age, or political beliefs.
  • As a community of scholars, we support one another and are able to discuss difficult and controversial issues with intellect and compassion.
We are the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering.

What we offer

Our graduate degrees (non-thesis Master's, Master's with thesis, and PhD) allow specialization in a variety of sub-disciplines

The non-thesis master's degrees are also available via Distance Education tracks

These are enabled by the highly ranked  Engineering Online program that has been operating since 1978

As of the Spring 2021 semester, our department is officially at home in the new Fitts-Woolard Hall on Centennial Campus. This state-of-the-art building includes modern laboratories, collaborative workspaces for students and faculty, and a dedicated work area for student groups..

Summer Research Internship Opportunities: RISE

Students who participate in the RISE (Research Internship Summer Experience) program will be better prepared and motivated to pursue advanced degrees, thereby helping to sustain a rich talent pool in critical areas related to all aspects of civil engineering research and innovation. We encourage participation from engineering students from underrepresented and underserved groups from the U.S. and its territories.

Highly qualified applicants pursuing research-based degrees (MS, PhD) are considered for financial support in the form of Fellowships, Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships. This support is for the typical duration (four semesters for MS and eight semesters for PhD) of the degree program; in addition to a monthly stipend, tuition and health costs are covered.
