Alt-Textbook Grant Application
The North Carolina State University Libraries is currently accepting proposals for our Open Education grants. The proposal form can be found below. Proposals are due by Friday, May 3, 2024 with implementation required within one calendar year of your proposal being accepted.
The grant program is a collaboration between the Libraries and DELTA. For information on past Alt-Textbook projects, please read about previous proposals we've supported.

Available Grants:
Review an Open Textbook
Find an open textbook that would be appropriate for your class or a class in your department and review it. Post your review on the Open Textbook Library. Reviews must genuinely reflect human perspectives, opinions, and experiences, without any AI-generated or other artificially generated content.
Open Pedagogy
Open Pedagogy grants are designed to support innovative teaching and learning. Open Pedagogy incorporates Open Educational Resources (OER) and assignments to enhance the learning environment in which students actively contribute to open knowledge.
Adapt/Adopt/Create an Open Textbook
Redesign your course to incorporate an open textbook. The textbook can be adopted as-is or remixed (rearranged, edited, or combined with other materials) to better fit class topics and presentation order. The textbook must be the required textbook -OR- there must be no required textbook. Awardees agree to use free or low-cost resources for at least three semesters and present briefly on their experiences with the program.
Department/Group Adoption
Choose at least one open textbook for two or more classes and adopt it/them as the assigned textbook(s) for the classes within one calendar year. This can include adapting open textbooks to better fit class topics and presentation order. The textbook(s) must be the required textbook(s) for each class OR there must be no required textbook(s) for those classes. The successful application will include at least two instructors and at least two courses.
