Forsyth County 4-H’ers earned medals at the State 4-H Presentation Finals at NC State University on July 21 as a part of NC 4-H Congress. Winners included:

Laurelyn Ridge, Gold, 11-13 Year Old Peanut Foods

Olivia Gatewood, Gold, 9-10 Year Old Wheels and Engines

Sophia Gatewood, Silver, 9-10 Year Old Environmental Science

Logan Engle, Silver, 9-10 Year Old, Science and Technology

Forsyth County 4-H members, Spencer Cook, Jadyn Hooker and Sidney Hooker were admitted into the NC 4-H Honor Club at the Opening Assembly of the 2018 NC 4-H Congress event. The North Carolina 4-H Honor Club was organized in 1931 by Mr. L.R. Harrill as a way to develop a statewide 4-H service organization. Today, the NC 4-H Honor Club has almost 3,000 members from across the state and nation. Being a North Carolina 4-H Honor Club member is more than just an honor. It is the chance to give back to the 4-H program a small part of the knowledge and skills that the 4-H program helped to develop.

Additionally, Forsyth County 4-H member, Laurelyn Ridge, was asked to perform at the 4-H Talent Showcase on Sunday, July 22nd. She sang “Never Enough” from “The Greatest Showman.”

Monday, Spencer Cook, competed in the 4-H Application, Interview, Resume and Essay contest. He was selected as a winner and has earned a trip to the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia in November.

Noah Crawford, Zechariah Crawford, Kate Halstead, April Bowman (4-H Youth Development Agent with the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center), Ethan Cook and Spencer Cook participated as full-time delegates to NC 4-H Congress on North Carolina State University campus. They participated in leadership and subject matter workshops, in a community service project, as well as met other 4-H’ers from across the state during the four-day event.
