Mallory Sawyer, of Chowan County 4-H, attended the tenth annual North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) Youth Summit, which was held in Greensboro, NC on August 23-24, 2019. North Carolina 4-H and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service partnered for the tenth year with the NCACC on a multi-year initiative to increase youth involvement in county government. This initiative helps youth learn more about county government as well as how to become more involved in local decision making. 77 youth and adults (pictured below) from 66 counties were represented during this event. The event is sponsored and supported by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.

As part of the requirements to attend YouthVoice, Sawyer spoke at the July 15, 2019, Chowan County Commissioners meeting and took a picture with the commissioners (pictured below). Sawyer has been a member of the Kids and Cops 4-H Club for four years. She was selected as this year’s delegate because of her responsibility and leadership within Kids and Cops.
