Do you know someone in Hertford County that has gone the extra mile to serve our community? Volunteers are priceless but often go unrecognized for the selfless acts that they perform. If you know of someone, don’t miss out on an opportunity to show them how much they are appreciated. Take a moment to nominated them so that they may get the recognition they deserve.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award. The awards program, created by the Office of the Governor in 1979, recognizes North Carolina’s most dedicated volunteers. Through the years, the award has been bestowed on thousands of North Carolinians who have shown concern and compassion for their neighbors by volunteering in their local community.

Each county selects up to ten individuals, businesses, groups/teams and the one paid Director of Volunteers to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to their communities. One of the nominees will be nominated for the Governor’s Medallion Award for Volunteer Service, which is awarded to the top 20 volunteers in the state. This year you can fill out and submit your nomination online or download the word document and fill out and mail completed forms to the address below.

The nomination deadline is January 17, 2020, by 4:30 p.m. If mailing please return the completed forms to: N.C. Cooperative Extension of Hertford County, Attn: Rebecca Castello 301 W. Tryon St. Winton, NC 27986.
