New Hanover County 4-H Volunteer named North Carolina’s 4-H Volunteer of the Year

Tina Sharpe

Sharpe awarded North Carolina 4-H Volunteer of the Year.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County 4-H volunteer Tina Sharpe was awarded North Carolina’s 4-H Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of her involvement with 4-H for more than eight years as a volunteer and a 4-H club leader.

Tina received the award at the North Carolina 4-H Volunteer Leaders’ Conference, January 31–February 2, 2020, in Durham. She was joined at the conference by New Hanover County’s 4-H Agent J. Scott Enroughty and Volunteer Coordinator Amy Mead. The local delegation joined more than 190 4-H Volunteers from across North Carolina for the 41st Anniversary of the North Carolina 4-H Volunteer Leaders’ Association.

While at the conference, delegates had the chance to participate in interactive workshops on topics ranging from wildlife to social media, learn with others from across the state, as well as elect and install new officers for the North Carolina 4-H Volunteer Leaders’ Association. Attendees also celebrated and recognized Tina and other 4-H Volunteer award winners, celebrating the achievements of Master 4-H Volunteers reaching new 4-H Achievement in Continuing Education (ACE) levels.

“Tina’s strength in leadership, creativity, and commitment reflect the positive work she brings to 4-H,” said 4-H Agent J. Scott Enroughty. “Her knowledge in project record books, leadership, and community engagement provides valuable resources and experiences to the youth of New Hanover County. Tina’s health and nutrition workshops engage youth in a fun yet informative way to live healthier, and she helped make the inaugural 4-H Pumpkin Palooza a success by securing multiple sponsors for the event. Tina is a true representation of North Carolina 4-H by helping strengthen families and communities. She is dedicated to improving the quality of people’s lives and helps them focus efforts to implement and reach goals.”
