We’re super excited to be able to bring this opportunity to our kids in Alexander County. Sign your child up today for a seed sharing kit. While we’re all shelter in place, encourage your child to grow their own garden it will be a  great way to keep them active, while allowing them to enjoy a little bit of sunshine. We all need some sunshine and time away from those Zoom sessions, and this will hopefully encourage them to eat more vegetables. Students will be mailed seeds and information material to start their own little garden. This will be a great opportunity as a family to learn about how to grow the vegetables, how to cook, and how to  preserve the vegetables. To participants, students will be asked to share at least 5 pictures throughout the year on the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Alexander County Facebook page with at least one picture during planting, one picture during harvest, and one during cooking.

One kit per family. Kits are limited to the first 25 families register but we will also be taking waitlist for those who are interested. Last day to register is April 25 and kits will be mailed out April 30, 2020. For additional questions, please contact Der Holcomb at dxiong3@ncsu.edu. Stay tuned for a sneak peek at what’s inside the box.

Special thanks to our funders from United Way, NC State University Local Food Program-Farm to School Team, and donors Wyatt Quarles and Johnny’s Selected Seeds.
