Meal prepping foodsWhat should I make for dinner tonight? We have so many leftovers, how long can it stay in the fridge? Are these common questions in your house? I know they are in mine. I sit down each week and make my grocery list, to just get stressed about what to cook for the week. I have attached a few resources to help with those nights you just aren’t sure what to make.

The first link is from our Steps to Health team at NC State University. They work hard to make meals that are healthy and also kid approved. The website has spices, dips, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even snack ideas. Visit the website.

The next website has videos along with recipes. There is also some good information on keeping your child active. Visit the website. Eating like those who live in the Mediterranean region has been shown to promote health and decrease risk of many chronic diseases. Visit the Med Instead of Meds website to get recipe ideas based on the Mediterranean eating pattern. Eating local foods is not only good for you, but good for your community. As our summer vegetables start to dwindle down, don’t forget about those fall fruits and vegetables that you can incorporate into your diet. Visit our local foods website for recipe ideas.

Now let’s talk about those leftovers. The Food Industry Association has created an app called, The FoodKeeper. This app can be downloaded on any apple or android device. The app provides valuable food storage advice to help consumers maintain the freshness and quality of food. Visit this website to download the app or to browse all the information that is available in the app. When browsing the website you can click through whichever food you are looking to keep in your fridge or freezer. You can also keep up with food recalls and food safety charts.
