Savanah Laur

Please welcome the newest member of the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Moore County staff, Savanah Laur. On September 8, 2020, Savanah started serving as the Moore County Extension Horticulture Agent. Her responsibilities will concentrate on small farm development and farm diversification and will address issues pertaining to sustainable crop production systems, fruit and vegetable production, integrated pest management, soil science and health, farm business planning and management, and developing viable farm markets. Additionally, Savanah will oversee the highly regarded Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteer program of Moore County which involves recruiting, training, and managing Master Gardener℠ volunteers. She will also coordinate and provide pesticide education for the green industry and its professionals.

Savanah received her Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences with an emphasis in agricultural economics and farm management from Iowa State University. She received her Masters of Science in Horticulture from the University of Georgia. During her educational pursuits she interned at Extension research farms in Iowa and Georgia where she developed and acquired her goal of becoming a Horticulture Extension agent. With a fondest and appreciation for the diversity and centralized location of North Carolina, Savanah sought a position with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service.

Savanah comes to Moore County with a passion for horticulture and a readiness to learn and meet the needs for Moore County farmers, residents, and agribusinesses. On behalf of the Moore County staff, I am excited to add her as a welcomed member of our staff, and we are sure she will serve Moore County with keen diligence and professional enthusiasm.
