While 2020 has certainly had its challenges, Sherry Lynn, County Administrative Assistant for N.C. Cooperative Extension in Currituck County has made the most of it. While balancing regular job duties and the challenges of adapting to new ways of doing business, Ms. Lynn successfully earned the designation of Certified Administrative Professional (CAP).
The Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) designation is granted by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies, the accrediting arm of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence. This organization verifies that the CAP meets national and international credentialing industry standards for certification programs. Candidates must pass a three hour, over 200 question exam that covers six topic areas related to the essential functions of an administrative professional.
“We are very proud of Sherry’s latest accomplishment. She consistently strives to go above and beyond to ensure that N.C. Cooperative Extension in Currituck County projects a professional image and operates efficiently. Her enhanced knowledge and skill will only serve to further those efforts,” stated Cameron Lowe, County Extension Director. When asked about the experience, Sherry Lynn shared, “I began preparing and studying in February and really buckled down hard in August. It was tough as there was subject matter that I was unfamiliar with. I was challenged for sure but was determined to do my best and I am very happy that my hard work paid off. I have learned many new things and strengthened my knowledge through the process, which will enhance my role as County Administrative Assistant.”
