Several 4-H programs across North Carolina have started to supply youth in their county with kits to practice some of those “Learn by Doing” activities that 4-H is so famous for and Cherokee County 4-H is joining in on the fun!

Coming in December, be on the lookout to get youth registered to be able to pick up a free kit to do some fun activities that can include the whole family. A few kits that we have in mind are the: 4-H Bread in a Bag, make your own Christmas/Garden gnomes, milk jug snow men, you get the picture our minds are racing just to do a few activities for the December kit. Each month we will offer a different kit with 1-3 activities per kit.width="466" height="365"

We plan to continue doing kits each month with different activities. We want our youth to get a chance to do some activities that are fun and low cost for families. Our 4-H clubs have not been meeting face to face and we don’t want our youth to forget what fun “Learn by Doing” activities 4-H has to offer. The kits will not be limited to 4-H youth but we do encourage youth to enroll in 4-H so they can continue to participate in our great fun activities we have to offer them.

Our first planned kit has our 4-H Bread in a Bag. It is a very tasty yeast bread with several options to make different flavors to enjoy during the holidays or anytime of the year. Youth must be a resident of Cherokee County or a resident of a county close enough to pick up in person. No kits will be mailed out. Please go to Eventbrite and sign up to receive a kit at go.ncsu.edu/cherokeecounty.
