April 18–24, 2021, is National Volunteer Week. I want to take this opportunity to recognize and thank all volunteers for your contributions to our community, but I especially want to thank our Master Gardener℠ volunteers in Union County.

In 2020, we had 53 active Master Gardener volunteers in Union County who contributed 3,179 hours of volunteer time. They provided educational programs through school and after-school programs, Speaker’s Bureau, Successful Gardener, Ask a Master Gardener℠ Volunteer, the Teaching Garden, 4-H Nature Camp, and many other events.

Union County Extension Master Gardener VolunteersAs the Horticulture Extension Agent, I work closely with these volunteers. They are folks who are passionate about gardening & the environment. They love to learn and they are willing to share their knowledge with others in our community. I am proud of the work these dedicated volunteers contribute to providing educational programs for the citizens in Union County and I want to publicly recognize and thank them and let everyone know what a great group of volunteers they are. If you might be interested in learning more about the Extension Master Gardener℠ program of Union County, give me a call at 704-283-3729 or check out their Master Gardener℠ volunteers of Union County website!

If you have family members or friends who volunteer in the community, take the time to tell them thank you this week!
