About This Event
4-H is the youth development program of North Carolina Cooperative Extension. Pitt County 4-H offers Summer Fun – a series of educational camps designed to build life skills through shared experiences and hands on learning. Youth must be 5 to 18 years of age as of January 1, 2024
Camp dates have been set and listed below. Registration information will be posted for each camp once it becomes available.
4-H Summer Fun Registration
The following are required, without exception, for 4-H Summer Fun Registration.
1. Before Camp Registration: Enroll as 4-H member (not participant) at v2.4honline.com (includes health form, emergency contact, program liability waiver, photo, and transportation release, which covers 4-H membership for the rest of the year).
- When asked to choose club, please select: Pitt Member at Large.
- When asked to choose project, please select: Camping
- 4-H Membership is free.
2. Register for camps beginning Monday, February 5th through the links below.
3. Payment is required to complete registration. If paying with cash or check please bring cash or check made payable to “Pitt County” to the Pitt County Extension Office. Fees are due in full at time of registration to cover insurance and supplies. Waitlists do not require payment up front, but will be due if a space opens and you accept. See Cancellations Policies and Additional Information at then end of this guide
Additional information:
- The location of the camps will be listed on the ticket. All the camps will take place in Pitt County, some travel may occur.
- Youth must be enrolled in 4-H Online to sign up. (Enroll in 4-H Online 2.0).
- Each camper must bring their own lunch, water bottle, snack, or sunscreen, as needed for camp.
- Youth must be the age listed by the time of camp date.

| Farm to Table Camp | 9-12 | August 5-9 | 9 a.m.-3 p.m. | $85.00 | In this week long camp participants will learn about agriculture by visiting local farms, picking fruits and vegetables and transforming them into delicious dishes. On the last day of camp, campers will participate in a Food Challenge Competition (Chopped style). At the end of the week youth will walk away with new skills and a few kitchen goodies. |

Camp Cancellation Policy
When you enroll your child in our program, you are reserving space, time, snacks/meals, supplies, and staffing whether or not your camper attends the program. In order to cancel a Camp Session, Pitt County 4-H will use the following deadlines for cancellations.
Summer Day Camp
In order to cancel a Summer Day Camp program and receive a full refund, 4-H Staff must receive a written cancellation notice Two weeks prior to the first day of the program.

2024 Camp Scholarship Information
Scholarships are available for the 2024 Residential Camp at Betsy Jeff Penn! 4-H Camp Scholarships help offset the cost of residential summer camp. Submitting a scholarship application does not guarantee the youth scholarship. Pitt County 4-H Camp Scholarships are limited and based on available funds.

How are youth recipients selected?
A scoring rubric to objectively score and rank all applications for scholarships. This scoring rubric weights based on level of need, as determined by vulnerable population status and the quality of the narrative portion of your application. The narrative portion of your scholarship application should detail the reason, story or need of the camper to receive a scholarship. Those applications with the strongest narrative sections will rise to the top.
Deadline to apply for a camper scholarship: April 30, 2024 by 5 p.m.
Camp Guidelines
Please review the following rules and guidelines carefully
Please pay special attention to camp descriptions including participant ages,dates, times and pricing.
- Youth must be registered In 4HOnline. If you are unable to fill out the electronic registration a hardcopy form will be provided.
- All camps are filled on a first come, first serve basis to all Pitt County youth; however, active 4-H members have the opportunity to register earlier than the general public. If spaces are unavailable, they have been filled. If you wish to be placed on a waiting list, you can provide that information on the registration form or call us at (252)902-1709.
- 4-H Campers are strongly discouraged from bringing cell phones and other electronic devices to 4-H events and camp. If brought, cell phones and other devices must be left in bag or pocket during scheduled activities. Cell phones may be confiscated and returned at the end of the event if their possession or use is determined to be disruptive to camp or event activities. Pitt County 4-H is not responsible for the theft, loss, or damage of any device.
- Participants should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start time of each camp and should be picked up no later than 10 minutes after the camp is scheduled to conclude. When transportation is provided by our office to another location, participants who arrive more than 10 minutes late will not receive a ride and no refund will be given.
- Parents/Guardians may be asked to present photoID to pick up your child(ren).
- For all camps and activities, Pitt County 4-H, its staff and volunteers ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for sunburn or insect bites and WILL NOT administer either sunscreen or insect repellent. The parent/guardian is responsible for providing/applying these protective agents.
- Medicine will be provided as directed In the 4-H Online Health Form upon parental permission.
- If you would like to request a scholarship, please be sure to contact the 4-H Office. Please note that we require some financial commitment from families; 100% scholarships are exceedingly rare. Available funds to support these opportunities vary year to year and program to program.
- All camps operate under the 4-H Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure which is a condition of participation in 4-H events and activities. We reserve the right to suspend your child from the program without refund should he/she become disruptive and or violate 4-H Code of Conduct in any way. If a child is dismissed from the program, then the parent/guardian or a designee must pick the child up immediately.

2024 Camp Counselor Information
Pitt County 4-H is always looking for enthusiastic youth volunteers to serve as camp counselors! Being a camp counselor can be a very rewarding experience, but it is also a great responsibility and commitment.
Complete applications are due through the online application system by June 3rd.
Please review all the information for requirements, deadlines, and expectations. If you have any questions, please contact the Extension Office.
Applications will open April 1st.
