On Friday, May 14, 2021, the Forsyth County Trailblazers 4-H Club visited the Village of Clemmons Town Hall. We toured the Community Gardens and had our picture taken as a group with members of staff. Inside we viewed the “Hattie Butner” stagecoach and learned about Edwin Clemmons and his stagecoach business. The “Hattie Butner” was his final stage and his largest. It was restored by the Historical Society in 1995 and is the first feature you see when you arrive at the Town Hall.

We learned about how the Village of Clemmons is governed, and heard from Mayor John Wait, Council Members Mike Rogers and Mary Cameron, Finance Officer Ann Stroud, Village Manager Scott Buffkin, Stormwater Engineer Wes Kimbrell, Marketing and Communications Director Shannon Ford, Village Clerk Lisa Shortt, and Sgt. Geiger and Deputy Culler from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department. Each shared a unique way in which the Village is able to run smoothly.

Our visit to the Village of Clemmons Town Hall was very enjoyable and informative. The Trailblazers are very grateful for the experience! Sarah, one of our 4-H club members said, “Getting to go to the Clemmons Village Hall was a great experience! I learned so much related to our local government and it was great to get to meet the people that run it!” Another 4-H’er, Rachel said, “I loved getting to visit Clemmons Village Hall! It was a great learning experience! I loved learning about what the people did when they were young and what they do now for their job!”
