TiLT Overview

To highlight our Teens in Leadership Training (TiLT) program, we’re spotlighting some of our current and former volunteers, learning about their involvement in the program, and seeing how their experience has continued to impact them. Brunswick County 4-H TiLT youth volunteer teaching program trains youth volunteers ages 13-18, to deliver in-school, after-school, and summer programs that teach healthy living, STEM, good stewardship, and environmental awareness of the resources in Brunswick County. When did you serve in TiLT?

2012.

What is your favorite memory from serving as a TiLT volunteer?

My favorite memory from serving as a TiLT volunteer was the organ wise pop up walk through that we taught at the school for a week.

How did volunteering with TiLT help you when choosing a college or career path?

By attending a wide variety or clubs and trying new things I learned what I liked and didn’t like and put that towards what I wanted to do with my career.

What is one other way TiLT has helped you? (Ex: public speaking, making friends, learned something new, etc.)

Tilt helped me with public speaking. By teaching in the schools, attending country council. Being the district reporter and running for state office in 4-H helped me to over some my anxiety of talking in front of people.
