Camden County is one of the newest communities to join the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Visit NC Farms App, which instantly connects residents and visitors to agribusiness points of interest across the state to enjoy agricultural experiences, support local businesses, and have access to fresh local food. The app is designed with maps, lists, and search functions where residents and visitors can find farms, farmers markets, farm-to-table restaurants, pick-your-own farms, and special events featuring food grown, raised, caught, or made in NC.

The N.C. Cooperative Extension, Camden County Center in partnership with the Camden County Tourism Development Authority has helped to establish, finance, and market Camden’s presence on the app. With the app, participating agritourism businesses can leverage the power of mobile technology to help customers find them in the palm of their hand! In areas of the state where previously launched, the app has proven to be a great tool for creating awareness and driving growth in visitation and sales of local farm and food assets. The Visit NC Farms app is also a great way for citizens to stay updated on what local farm businesses have to offer during different times of the year.

N.C. Cooperative Extension is pleased to be leading and coordinating this agricultural economic development project with the Camden TDA. The app can be accessed by visiting the Visit NC Farms website, or by searching for Visit NC Farms in the app store or in google play. We hope that citizens will consider taking advantage of the Visit NC Farms app by downloading it on their smartphone today.
