Orange County 4-H invites teens ages 13 and up to join our new Healthy Living Team! Selected teens will be invited to attend a FREE conference at Millstone 4-H Camp in Ellerbe, January 15–16, 2022. While there, you will be trained to teach a 4-H curriculum called Health Rocks! to youth in grades 3-8. This curriculum is all about positive relationships, how to make healthy choices, how to avoid tobacco, alcohol, and drugs, and how to be a positive influence on your community.

Upon completion of the training, the 4-H Healthy Living Team will help us lead two Health Rocks! series here in Orange County later this year! You’ll have the opportunity to impact the lives of youth in grades 3-8. If you enjoy interacting with children and want to strengthen your leadership skills, this is your opportunity! Members of the team will also earn community service hours.

Requirements to be on the team

  • Be a current member of Orange County 4-H or enroll in 2022.
  • Be age 13-18 as of January 1, 2022.
  • Interested in health topics.
  • Interested in helping your community.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from 4-H activities.
  • Be available to attend the conference on January 15–16.

Not a 4-H member yet? That’s okay! We can get you signed up before we go.

If you are interested in securing a spot on the team, please email Jonathon Smith at jonathon_smith@ncsu.edu by December 22, 2021, with your name, age, and a statement of how this opportunity connects with your interests and strengths. Also, let us know what you think you can add to the team we are putting together.

We currently have space for four student leaders so act fast if interested.
