Gardening with natives is a topic covered in our Master Gardener Program. Native plants attract pollinators, as seen here with our Bee Balm/Monarda didyma.

With the new year in tow, you may have made yourself a resolution. One of those resolutions could be learning a new skill. Make one of those new skills, gardening skills!

With our Extension Master Gardener program, you will receive research-based knowledge on all aspects of gardening! Granted, the Master Gardener program is designed for people from all walks of life. Whether you are a beginner or have gardened all your life!

Join a network of passionate gardeners across the state who are dedicated to learning and sharing research-based information, enhancing their communities through horticulture, and connecting people with the benefits of gardening.

Our Master Gardener course is 14 weeks long and meets once a week on Tuesdays from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Our course starts on February 15th, 2022. This 14-week course also includes demonstrations and field trips! These will take place at earlier times of the day.

The topics we cover include botany, small fruits, tree fruits, pesticide safety, wildflowers, tree ID, gardening with natives, lawn and weeds, soil testing, composting, propagation, vegetables and raised beds, and more!

The cost for this 14-week course is $125. This includes the Master Gardener Handbook, demo supplies, and field trips!

To register, call Caldwell County Center at 828.757.1290. Applications will be accepted through February 14th or until the class is full.

The mission of the Master Gardener Program is to connect people to horticulture through science-based education and outreach that empowers North Carolinians to cultivate healthy plants, landscapes, ecosystems, and communities.

We hope you’ll include us in your resolutions by becoming an Extension Master Gardener!
