Broadband
Recently, an informative broadband meeting hosted by our State Senator and regional House Representatives was held at Holy Springs Baptist Church for interested individuals residing in counties west of the Asheville area.
Speakers included Angie Bailey, Director of the Broadband Infrastructure Office within the Division of Broadband and Digital Equity, and Deputy Secretary Nate Denny for Broadband and Digital Equity and broadband providers. Attendees included representatives from economic development, county commissioners, county and town managers, business owners and other interested parties.
Over the past few years, residents of Western North Carolina have become keenly aware of their internet speed, reliability and or lack thereof. The North Carolina Broadband Office has developed a Survey in which you can take to provide them with internet availability and internet speed information at your location.
The information gathered from the survey will:
- Provide clear data to guide good stewardship of funds through the state’s Access to Grant American Rescue Plan ACT (GREAT – $350 mil).
- Inform research and policy recommendations.
- Support strategic targeting of additional funding streams from Completing Access to Broadband (CAB – $400 mil) and more.
Macon County needs your help. Please complete the 5-minute North Carolina Broadband Survey today and share the survey with your friends and family.
To report locations without internet service, participants can take the survey via the phone by calling 919 750 0553.
