Rulemaking in the High Rock Lake Watershed

High Rock Lake is impaired. The NC Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is beginning the rule making process to address this impairment. NC State Extension recently held a meeting to understand the environmental issues and the rulemaking process. The rules and are being developed will have an effect on all people, businesses, municipalities, and farms in the watershed. The meeting presenters are Dr. Deanna Osmond – Department Extension Leader (Nutrient Mgt and Water Quality), NC State University, Allie Dinwiddie – NC Department of Agriculture, Division of Soil & Water Conservation, and Joey Hester – NC Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Water Resources.

To stay informed visit the DEQ High Rock Lake Nutrient Management Strategy and be sure to follow the Subscribe to the High Rock Lake link so you will be informed as this rulemaking process progresses. Being involved is the best way to make your voice heard.
