Kitchen Science Camp

Does your child love to cook? Are they interested in science? Then sign them up for one or both of N.C. Cooperative’s Kitchen Science Camps! These camps combine the love of science with the love of cooking for those ages 11 and up. Both camps will be held at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck Center Kitchen (120 Community Way Barco, NC 27917) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Check out our camp topics and see what might interest your child.

Bread Making – July 14th

In this class, your child will learn the gassy science behind making bread. Then they will use their newly acquired skills to make simple Italian bread. Which, each camper will turn into their very own pizza! Each camper will receive a pizza-making kit to help them share their knowledge with family and friends.

Candy Making – July 28th

Making candy sounds like it should be an art, but really it’s just science! Your child will learn about the different levels of sugar crack to make their very own lollipops. All campers will receive a candy-making kit to help them share their delicious new skills with everyone they know!

You are just a few simple steps away from signing up your child for a deliciously fun camp.

First, reserve your child a seat today by completing the class registration through Eventbrite. Make sure to purchase the ticket in your child’s name.

Second, complete your payment via credit card on Eventbrite or send cash or checks made payable to NCSU. Checks and cash payments can be received at the Camden Extension Office located at 120 NC Highway 343 N, 27921, within 5 days of registration.

Third, please visit 4-HOnline and complete the 4-H online registration. This will register your child in 4-H for the year.

Class size is limited, and full registration, including payment, is required to hold your spot. If you have any problems registering for camp please feel free to call us at 252-331-7630. For more information or accommodations for persons with disabilities, please contact Olivia Patchel (olivia_patchel@ncsu.edu) no later than ten business days before the event.
