The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of the library is BOOKS. I do love to read. But the library is a community resource. It has digital media, internet access, computer classes, community programs like story time and the summer reading program. A group of McDowell Extension Master Gardeners would also like to add a Seed Library to the McDowell County Library.
The McDowell County Master Gardener Volunteers and the McDowell County Public Library will host a meeting on Starting a Seed Library on Tuesday, September 20, 5:30 p.m., in the lower level Conference Room. If you save seeds, like to share seeds, want to learn about saving seeds, or want to be part of the Seed Library project, please attend. The meeting is FREE and open to the public.
People save seeds for many reasons. There is no single right reason. You can save money, create an independent seed supply, create community, share local heritage, and encourage gardening. Let’s see if we can create a community of saving and sharing seeds in McDowell County.
