North Carolina A&T State University through a fund from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission can provide farmers with a reimbursement of up to $240 for work completed on the farm or items purchased to promote agritourism or value-added. Some examples would be (1) signage for agritourism or for selling value-added products at a roadside stand or the farmers’ market; (2) improvements to a driveway on your farm where customers would drive or park; (3) a special pot to cook apple butter or jam, etc. to sell as value-added products and (4) costs of required certification to produce and sell value-added food products. Stipend Application

The Department of Agribusiness, Applied Economics and Agriscience Education at North Carolina A&T State University has received a project grant funded by the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission. This grant can help farmers with registration costs for the North Carolina Agritourism Farm Tour (Day 1) and Conference (Day 2) conducted by the North Carolina Agritourism Networking Association. The grant will support conference costs for the farm’s principal operators and one additional farm operator, a value of $500+. The grant cannot support your one-night lodging costs. The conference takes place every February at a different location throughout North Carolina and includes a tour of farms with agritourism activities, access to exhibitors, speakers, and relevant/informative session topics helpful for aspiring, beginner, or seasoned farmers. The 2022 Conferences sessions included: “Agritourism 101,” “Social Media 101” “How to find a vendor for value-added,” “How to be a Friend to Tourism Boards, Chambers of Commerce & Media Sources,” “How to Enhance Revenue on the Farm through E-Commerce,” and “State of the State Agritourism – Annie Baggett, Agribusiness Developer & Agritourism Marketing Specialist, NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.” At this conference, there will be fellow farmers and experts from all over North Carolina. As soon as the 2023 Conference location is officially announced, information will be sent to you if you have expressed interest or submitted an application. Agritourism Application
