Madaline Jones, 4-H Youth Development Agent with N.C. Cooperative Extension was awarded the TC Blalock Young Agent Award during the 2022 North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Annual Conference held on September 8, 2022. The purpose of this award is to recognize 4-H agents for doing outstanding work in the 4-H Program. She was also awarded a Achievement in Service Award, which is a national recognition. The purpose of the Achievement in Service Award is to recognize 4-H Youth Development Professionals, with 3-7 years experience based, for outstanding accomplishments on the previous year’s work.

In 2021, Madaline helped serve 1,078 youth in Yadkin County through 4-H programming. Some of her accomplishments included being selected to present the 2nd/3rd Grade Steps to Health Program for the state, assisting in creating an Ag Day for 799 students for Yadkin/Davie Counties, and creating an Environmental Field Day for 371 students.

Madaline was not the only one to win 4-H awards at this award ceremony from the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Yadkin County Center though. Addie Wilson, N.C. Cooperative Extension, Yadkin County Center CED, Ashley Beard, formerN.C. Cooperative Extension, Yadkin County Center Family and Consumer Science Agent, along with Madaline Jones, won the NCAE4-HYDP Teamwork Award in 4-H Programming for our Walking for a Better Community. This project was conducted in 2021 to help youth understand and perform walking assessments for bettering communities. 

The purpose of the North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals is to promote the profession of Extension 4-H and youth work in North Carolina. The 4-H program is the youth education program of North Carolina Cooperative Extension, based at North Carolina State and North Carolina A&T State Universities. More than 260,000 young people ages 5 through 18 participate in North Carolina 4-H activities each year with the help of 16,700 adult and youth volunteers. You can find more information on NC 4-H’s Website.
