The Southern Alamance 4-H Horse Club won Reserve Champion Senior Horsebowl and Reserve Champion Senior Hippology earlier this year. Two members of the team, Allee Coble and Saona Wilcox, were selected to represent the NC 4-H Horse program at regional and national contests. Allee Coble competed on the NC Hippology Team while Saona Wilcox competed on the NC Horesebowl Team.

Both teams competed at Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships Educational Contests in Perry, Georgia August 3-7, 2022. For Horsebowl, the NC A team placed first. Team members are Graham Zeiders, Annie Winter (1st individual), Sara Richardson, and Saona Wilcox (3rd individual). They were coached by Beth Morgan. In the Hippology contest, the NC B team placed first. Team members were Kyra Worth (1st overall), Allee Coble (2nd overall), Stevie Neff-Sharum (7th overall), and Sarah Endicott (9th overall). With no surprise, both the NC Hippology and NC Horsebowl teams walked away as national champions. Saona Wilcox was 1st high individual in Horsebowl. Allee Coble was 6th overall in Hippology.

The two Alamance County 4-H members attended yet another national contest on November 4-6, 2022- the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup in Louisville, Kentucky. To finish off the year, both Saona and Allee, and their teams, walked away being 2x national champions.

We are beyond proud of Saona and Allee, as well as their teammates and coaches. We want to congratulate Southern Alamance Horse Club leader, Lindsay Riddell, for an outstanding job teaching and training our club members. Without Lindsay, our 4-H members wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn and participate in such amazing educational activities.
