Updating your home’s landscaping is a great way to increase the value of your property and create outdoor spaces for relaxing and entertaining. Whether you want to create a backyard paradise for dining and entertaining or boost your curb appeal, or both, there are many options and features that need to be considered.

The esteemed Marie Mims Butler will present the Fundamentals of Landscape Design  on Saturday, March 18th from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the  N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center.  All are welcome to join Marie in laughter and learning; however, registration for this free event is required. A brief biography from our guest speaker can be found below.

It may be hard to believe, but Marie Mims Butler has been gardening for over 50 of her “29” years. Her horticultural career launched at N.C. State and has included teaching at the school for the blind, designing residential and commercial landscapes, studying and teaching floral design in Japan, and presiding over the gardens of the Virginia Zoo as Landscape Coordinator. These days, Marie travels the country as a Regional Director for GardenComm, an association for garden communicators, and shares her love of horticulture with everyone.

If you have questions about the class, or if you need accommodations for persons with disabilities please contact Chris Blaha at 252-232-2262 or email ctblaha@ncsu.edu no later than ten business days before the event.
