Question:

In planting twin row peanuts, how would I go about using Proline as far as rates go? I was reading an article from UGA extension where the specialist was recommending half rate in each furrow and didn’t know if that applied here. With inoculant we have always gone full rate in each furrow. Thanks for your help with this.

Jordan:

I would continue applying the inoculant at full rates in both furrows of the twin row pattern. The reason half the rate of Proline (and in-furrow insecticides) are applied at half rates in each furrow of the twin-row pattern is because rates are recommended on a per-acre basis regardless of row pattern or row configuration. If you apply the labeled rate in each of the two twins, you are exceeding the labeled rate for many of these products. I do worry with twins because in many cases we are getting less product in the plant when we apply half of a labeled rate in the seed furrow. But that is the label.
