NC State Solid Waste Life-Cycle Modeling PhD Research Assistant
The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) (www.ccee.ncsu.edu/) at North Carolina State University (NCSU) received support from the National Science Foundation to establish an international virtual institute to study solid waste management (SWM) life-cycle modeling in collaboration with researchers at the Danish Technical University (DTU). The International Institute for Solid Waste Management Life-Cycle Modeling (http://go.ncsu.edu/iswm) seeks to enhance research, education, and outreach related to the life-cycle assessment (LCA) of integrated SWM systems.

Researchers at NC State and DTU will develop consistent and unified life-cycle data and process models and implement a series of international workshops to develop best model practices and to make results available to the international research and education community. The institute will provide resources, instructional content, and opportunities for collaboration among solid waste life-cycle researchers, educators, practitioners, and students from around the world.

We are seeking a PhD student with a background in engineering or a related field interested in systematic analysis of solid waste management and recycling processes and systems analysis to take a lead role in developing state-of-the-art life-cycle models of solid waste management processes and systems as part of their PhD research. Interested applicants should complete and submit this form.

CCEE at NCSU is one of the largest and most distinguished department in the country. NCSU is a research-oriented land-grant institution located in Raleigh, North Carolina and is an anchor of North Carolina's Research Triangle. Raleigh was rated as the #2 place in the U.S. for business and careers by Forbes in 2015, and has frequently been rated one of the best places to live.
