Citizenship Focus: June 10th-12th, 2019
Join youth from across the state as they learn about citizenship, our government and meet our legislators. This overnight program for youth to have hands-on experience around civic education and meet youth from across the state. The program is a great opportunity for young teens to learn about leadership!

Dismal Swamp Outdoor Adventures: June 12th-13th
Join Camden County 4-H as we spend two days outdoor at the Dismal Swamp State Park! We will spend two full days in nature. We will hike, kayak, fish, doing outdoor relay races, crafts and more with the help of Dismal Swamp State Park Rangers. Youth will need to bring a water bottle, snack, lunch, sunscreen and bug spray.

Youth will learn about the different plants and animals in our community as well as basic camping skills while having fun and making new friends!

Ages: 8-12
Cost: $10
Time: 9 AM- 4 PM
Location: Dismal Swamp State Park
Youth can be dropped off and picked up at the state park, alternatively, they can be dropped off and picked up at the Camden Community Park at 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM - a travel waiver is required to be signed in the office

County Activity Day: June 14, 2019
This will be the day for youth to strut their stuff and practice their presentations! All participants will be able to go on to participate in District Activity Day. All youth will have an opportunity to present and receive feedback. We'll go over what to expect at District Activity Day and enjoy snacks together! For this public speaking contest, youth ages 8-18, research, write, practice, and deliver a 5-12 minute presentation on a topic of their choice. Youth ages 5-7 can also participate by presenting a 2-4 minute presentation on a subject of their choice. Ali Huber, the 4-H Agent, will work with all youth beforehand and selecting their topic and designing their presentation.

Culinary Academy: June 17-19, 2019 is FULL
Join us for three days of culinary fun! Each day youth will learn new culinary skills and prepare their own lunch! Camden County 4-H is partnering with Dare County 4-H and Currituck County 4-H for this exciting 3-day program! Each morning, Camden County 4-Hers will travel with Ali Huber from the Camden County Community Park.

Youth will need to bring a water bottle, suncreen and bug spray.

District Activity Day: June 22, 2019
DISTRICT ACTIVITY DAY INCLUDES LUNCH. Please bring money for breakfast and dinner.

-By participating in District Activity Day, 4-Hers will receive a trip to NC State University!
-Confident public speaking is a crucial but often overlooked and underdeveloped skill. Developing effective communication skills and techniques provide youth with a positive sense of self and higher levels of self-confidence. This will empower them to achieve and succeed in any situation they encounter.
-Additionally, presentations are fun! Presentations allow 4-Hers to explore an area that interests them. There are also cash prize opportunities for those who win!

4-H State Camp: June 23rd- 28th, 2019
The 4-H Summer Camp experience enables a child to learn and grow while kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, learning about nature, performing in skits, and even perfecting archery skills. The Eastern 4-H Center does all of this and more…the Team Challenge Course is a great way for campers to improve communication and teamwork skills. Along with well-trained counselors and program instructors, every camper will have memories and friendships that last a lifetime. State camp is the perfect place for children to become more independent and confident in themselves.

Babysitting and Life Skills Camp: June 24th- 27th, 2019- Full
Join us for four days as youth learn about developing crucial life-skills in this fun and hands-on program! Teen youth will learn skills in caring for youth, cooking, CPR/ First Aid, and more with interactive activities. Youth will gain the skills needed to help them be successful adults

Dunes to Marshes Discovery: July 2, 2019- FULL
Join us as we visit Dare County and work with the NC Coastal Federation to provide a hands-on, service-oriented, and ecology-focused workshop! The day will begin with planting marsh grass at a Coastal Federation site along the beach. Marsh grass is important for shoreline stabilization provides habitat for our Dare County critters, and prevents erosion. This will give Camden County 4-Hers the opportunity to give back to the community whilst learning about the environmental aspects of shoreline restoration. After spending the morning in the sun, we will retreat to the Coastal Federation office in Wanchese to discover some of the amazing characteristics of marshes!

Youth will need to bring a water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray and, a lunch.

Lego Robotics Afternoon: July 3rd- FULL
Join us for the afternoon as we explore Lego Robotics! We will build, design and create with our Lego WeDo 2.0 kits! Youth will then work to program their lego robotic creations! This will be a very hands-on program.

Youth will need water bottle, lunch and snack.

Interested in building, designing and creating? Join us for our summer edition of 4-H Youth Explore! We will work in groups to complete a design challenge in this fun and interactive workshop.

Northeast District Science Camp- CSI: July 9-11, 2019
This year, the Science Camp theme is Crime Scene Investigation! For those interested in forensic science and want to spend 3 days uncovering a murder mystery, look no further! Join us as we spend three days with youth from across northeastern NC as you learn lots of crime scene investigating skills while working to solve a crime. In the evenings there will be exciting, camp-wide activities! Youth will stay in dorms at Wesleyan and meals will be included in the program. Ali Huber, 4-H Agent, will provide transportation to and from the camp and will be attending the whole program.

Cloverbud Day Camp: July 16, 2019
If you have a young cloverbud (ages 5-7) that is interested in a trip to the Eastern 4-H Center, this is the perfect opportunity! Camden County 4-H Cloverbuds will take a day trip to the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC and spend the day getting the camp experience!

Youth will need to bring their car seat, water bottle, snack, bug spray, suncreen and lunch.

North Carolina 4-H Congress: July 19-23, 2019- Deadline Passed
North Carolina 4-H Congress is the premier achievement for 4-Hers! This is a 4-night trip to NC State University for 4-Hers that participate at District Activity Day on June 22nd.
The event includes the State Presentation Competition, an awards banquet, a variety of educational workshop, a dance, and a lot of fun!

North Carolina 4-H partners with the NC Association of County Commissioners to produce a high quality leadership development event. Only 1 delegate can be selected per county. This is a great program that develops leadership skills and allows youth to make friends from across the state.

Payment can be made by either cash or check.  Payments can be either dropped off at the Camden County Cooperative Extension office or mailed to 120 NC Highway 343 N, Camden 27921. Checks should be made payable to Camden County.
