Welcome to the Opening Doors Registration Page (Please read ALL the information that follows very thoroughly before deciding to register)

Opening Doors is a FREE three-day retreat that provides a framework for increasing diversity awareness and enhances a person’s ability to create an inclusive organization. The overall goal of Opening Doors is to facilitate both personal growth and systemic organizational change.  The retreat is hosted in a serene waterfront locale that provides a calm, restful setting for open discussion, self-examination and an objective analysis of our social system, as well as, a constructive means to bridging differences through understanding personal responsibility. As a result, participants develop constructive methods of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.

In collaboration with the University’s Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity, CALS is pleased to once again offer all University faculty, staff, and student employees this annual diversity competency retreat.  The Spring 2023 Opening Doors retreat dates are set for Wednesday, April 12th through Friday, April 14th 2023.  The retreat is absolutely free for all NC State employees and close affiliates.  Meals, lodging, and transportation* are included.  Outside organizations are welcome to join for a fee of $500 for non-profit agency employees and $700 for private industry business employees (outside agencies please have your representatives contact Ms. LaTosha Bradley at latosha_bradley@ncsu.edu to register).

PLEASE REGISTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS SEATS ARE LIMITED AND FILL FAST

Upon Registering Please be advised That:

Because this is a high demand retreat there is a limit on the number of employees allowed to participate per session.  This ensures a full and rewarding experience to each person in attendance.

It is very important that all participants and wait listed registrants carefully consider this commitment and plan accordingly, by reserving the workshop time on their schedules.  The Opening Doors retreat requires 3 days and 2 nights of overnight stay in a two (2) registrant per room hotel/styled lodging facility.  The retreat begins 10:00 a.m. on a Wednesday, and ends at 3:00 p.m. on a Friday.  Your registration to attend is a commitment.  Due to the need to effectively manage resources used to provide this opportunity, please inform our office immediately if you can no longer commit to the entire retreat.  If you are wait-listed, we ask that you, please, allow the wait list to remain as useful as possible by informing our office that you no longer wish to wait, which will remove your registration from the wait list and allow other wait listed registrants, who are sure they can wait, to move forward on the list.  Please contact Ms. LaTosha Bradley, via e-mail at latosha_bradley@ncsu.edu or via phone at 919.513.0739, as soon as possible to review all concerns.

If we encounter any concerns with your registration for the retreat, we will notify you as soon as possible. Otherwise, we will confirm your participation, with suggested pre-reading materials, as soon after you register as possible, but usually, and depending on when your registration is finalized, no later than a week before the workshop is set to begin.

Once our office can confirm no registrant conflicts for each registrant, (e.g. no supervisor/supervised relationship amongst registrants) registrants, not placed on the wait list, should expect to receive a confirmation message, and additional messages with important retreat details and reminders to follow throughout the months leading up to the retreat’s start date.  As such, please be sure to provide an email address that you will be able to monitor regularly for these messages.

Finally, please don’t hesitate to contact our office, via email at latosha_bradley@ncsu.edu, cals_diversity@ncsu.edu, or via phone at (919) 513-0739, with any questions or concerns you may have about the Spring 2023 Opening Doors retreat, and please accept our most sincere gratitude for your interest in assisting our College and University explore ways to enhance our understanding of difference and inclusion.

*Free transportation, provided by CALS ODI, will only be offered if two or more participants show an interest in driving a state provided van, from the NC State University, main campus to the Eastern 4-H Center and back.
