About this event

The Beef Cattle & Forages Workshop will take place at Hawfields Cattle Company in Haw River, NC. We will start the evening with a farm tour given by the farm owners, Travis & Sarah Covington before we dive into the workshop topics. This on-farm workshop will look at beef cattle and forage related topics such as custom grazing, bud box/low-stress cattle handling, rotational grazing, and summer annuals. You will be able to see a visual on all of the topics discussed.

Hawfields Cattle Company received an NC AgVentures Grant in 2020 to help them implement rotational grazing by adding automatic drinkers and additional fencing. This grant project will be featured during the workshop.

Please arrive for check-in starting at 5:30 pm. The program will start promptly at 6:00 pm and conclude at 8:00 pm. You will be required to step in a foot bath for biosecurity measures at check-in. Please wear appropriate attire for walking around a farm and being near cattle. I highly suggest wearing sunscreen, insect spray, etc.

There will be a portable restroom on-site. Light refreshments including water will be available. There will be moderate walking involved. You are also welcome to bring a folding chair for the times where we will not be walking.
