Keynote Speakers

Oliver Lee Mincey
Workplace and Leadership Coach

With over 30 years of operations and HR management experience, Oliver is a business coach and consultant who enthusiastically helps organizations create, build, and sustain high performing teams that get exceptional work done and on time.
Oliver started his career in operations management honing his leadership and ability to manage the performance and results of large teams at some of the most admired companies in the world including Coca-Cola, Walt Disney Company, NBC/Universal and Live Nation Entertainment.

In 2007, he was acknowledged for his natural talent in HR when he became the manager of training and development at a Six Flags park located in the San Francisco Bay Area. A few months later he was promoted to Human Resources Director supporting a team of over 2,000 employees, heading up training, recruiting and staffing, work-force optimization, employee relations, total rewards, and health and safety. Since then, he continued his career journey in various senior HR leadership roles for both mid-sized and multi-billion-dollar organizations, including most recently, Belcampo Meat Company.

Today, Oliver is co-founder of S+O Coaching LLC – Workplace & Leadership Coaching and Consulting, a company that focuses on and helps small and mid-sized organizations solve their people, process and culture challenges.

He currently commutes between Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area for both business and spending time with his life and business partner, Sonali along with their 5 amazingly terrific children.

Jennifer Martin, PhD.
Meat Specialist and Assistant Professor
Colorado State University

Dr. Jennifer Martin is an Associate Professor in Meat Safety and Quality and Meat Extension Specialist in the Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University. She is originally from Central Texas and received her M.S. (2010) and Ph.D. (2014) from Texas Tech University before joining  the Colorado State University faculty in the Spring of 2015. Jennifer has an active research program focusing on the quality and safety of meat and related products. Martin’s program specifically seeks to explore opportunities and the development of solutions with and for industry stakeholders. In addition to research, Jennifer works closely with meat and livestock industry members across Colorado and nation. Jennifer also serves as the co-leader for the Upskilling Initiative, a workforce development and innovative educational program within the College of Agricultural Sciences which seeks to provide novel career pathways for the agri-food industries. She also plays an active role in on campus programs, including the Provost’s Council for Engagement, Faculty Council, and numerous Department and University committees.

 

Craig McAnsh
Native Marketing

Craig is an experienced leader in the advertising, marketing and media industries. He is the founder and owner of Native Marketing and has been widely recognized for his strategic, non-traditional approach to solving problems and creating opportunities that build brands and business. Over his career, working for clients and agencies of all sizes, he has demonstrated success creating connections between consumers and brands by generating big ideas that leverage the power of culture. Craig has experience working on
various food and farm clients including Hickory Nut Gap Farms, Good Meat Project, and Grassfed Alliance. Additionally, McAnsh has global brand and marketing experience working with McDonald’s Corp., Cartoon Network,
American Heart Association, Walgreens, Turner, Coca-Cola, Best Buy, Ford, Campari/SKYY, DC United, SylvanSport, World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition, Chase Bank, HomeTrust Bank, and many more brands across a variety of industries.

Matt Poore

Beef and Forage Systems Specialist- NC State University

Dr. Poore is a Beef and Forage Systems Specialist stationed on the NCSU campus. He directs the long-standing “Amazing Grazing Program” which teaches the concepts of Pastureland Ecology to livestock farmers and their advisors. His applied research program focuses on the utilization of byproduct feeds, improved pasture utilization, pasture renovation, and pasture-raised beef.

Matt LeRoux

Extension Associate- Cornell University

Matt has over 20 years’ experience serving farms through Cornell Cooperative Extension, non-profits, and consulting. Specializing in market strategy, Matt works with a diverse mix of produce and livestock farmers and food businesses. Career highlights include developing the Marketing Channel Assessment Tool for produce growers and the Cornell Meat Price Calculator.

Casey Roe

Digital Marketing Specialist- Casey Roe Marketing

Casey is a digital marketing consultant specializing in local food. Her work focuses on helping food and agriculture businesses build their community of customers by telling their story and sharing their offerings online.

Andrew Weaver

Small Ruminant Specialist- NC State University

Dr. Weaver grew up in central Michigan and attended Michigan State University where he earned his B.S. in Animal Science in 2015. He completed his M.S. at Virginia Tech in 2017 studying terminal sire options for hair sheep producers. That research led him to West Virginia University where he completed his Ph.D. studying immune mechanisms related to parasite resistance. Dr. Weaver’s research and extension interests focus on utilization of genetic tools and other management practices to improve parasite resistance, production efficiency, and end-product value of small ruminants in the Southeast US.

Atiq Chaudhry

Chaudhry Halal Meats- Owner

Atiq owns and operates Chaudhry Halal Meats with his family in Siler City NC which is one of the largest Halal plants in North Carolina. They buy and market sheep to the halal community as well as offer custom USDA inspected processing to meat handlers.

Lee Menius

Technical Specialist- NC Choices – CEFS/NC State University

Lee Menius, an NCSU Animal Science Graduate, has worked in the local food scene for over 20 years. Lee has worked with Cooperative Extension, Rowan Soil & Water Conservation District, and NC Choices where his work has focused on educational projects and working with producers to develop effective pasture based meat production systems. Throughout his career, Lee has led numerous workshops and producer trainings on topics such as business planning, processing, and production.
