Collapse ▲Christmas in July People’s Choice Tree Competition
Eligible trees shall:
o Be grown by a member of the Ashe County Christmas Tree Association.
o Be commercially cultivated.
o Be no less than 6 feet in height, and no more than 8 feet in height measured from the butt to the tip of the leader.
o Have a handle which shall be no less than 6 inches and no longer than 12 inches measured along the trunk from the butt to the bottom of the first branch(es).
o Not be artificially colored or flocked.
o Not have branches and limbs that are wired, tied or inserted in any fashion within the tree.
- Trees shall be delivered to Parson’s Farm Supply on Friday July 5th between the hours of 12-3 o’clock. Deliveries should arrive by turning onto the Backstreet by First Baptist Church of WJ and traveling by the Farmer’s market to Parson’s farm supply.
- Tree stands will be supplied by Cooperative Extension. Trees should be placed in stands and staged by grower(s) or designated representative.
*Any tree failing to meet these requirements shall be disqualified by the CIJ tree contest committee prior to the opening of the festival judging.
Attendees at the Christmas in July Festival will vote for their favorite tree. Voting will be open on July 6th, from the beginning of the CIJ Festival at 9:00 until 3:00 at which time votes will be tallied. The winner will be announced at the main stage at 4:00.
The 2019 winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000.00 and their name engraved on a perpetual trophy that they will keep until the crowning of next year’s champion. The top three farms will receive banners that are theirs to keep. 2nd Place will receive $250.00 and third place will receive $100.00.
