Collapse ▲It was a sunny and sweltering day five of the Cloverbud Cooking Camp. All the campers showed off their hand-made tie-dyed shirts. The original plan was to have a picnic at the nearby rec park, but due to the intense heat, it was decided to spend only an hour at the park and then return to the Cooperative Extension to avoid the soaring temperatures.
We took the campers to the park in a loaded van and had a wonderful time. Their laughter filled the air as they ran and played creatively. We made sure to take breaks for water and frozen fruit. It was heartwarming to see how polite and kind they were to each other while playing, and how they worked together to help each other on some of the equipment. We were proud of their teamwork, which was just as impressive as their cooperation while cooking. Miss Cindy even joined in and played on the equipment with the campers!
After an hour of activities, we returned to our lunch and took a break to relax. As we ate, we shared our favorite experiences from camp. Everyone enjoyed making the lava lamp, while some also mentioned how much they enjoyed the breakfast casserole. A few even admitted that their absolute favorite part was simply enjoying the meals!
After our lunch break, we worked on our final craft project – creating puffy sidewalk paint. Once we finished mixing the paint, we went outside to use it. It was heartening to see the campers working together and sharing their paint when some of them ran out early.
As the end approached, we bid each other see ya laters. The enthusiastic campers eagerly expressed their desire to return for future sessions, which they had already signed up for. The joyous expressions on the kids’ faces conveyed their satisfaction with the experience.
