Information for Exhibits + Livestock Shows

Summer is still around, but fall is in the air and the Haywood County Fair is coming up from September 29th to October 1st, 2023! We are excited to see what our community has to showcase this year!

Entry day is coming up and there is NO pre-registration required for general exhibits or the baking contest! Livestock and poultry shows have an online form that is required IN ADVANCE of the fair, as well as entry fees!


Entry Deadlines

Friday, September 8th Online entries for LIVESTOCK SHOWS are due
Friday, September 22nd Entry fees for LIVESTOCK SHOWS are due
Tuesday, September 26th from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Exhibits entry intake at the fairgrounds (except for baking competitions)
Saturday, September 30th Baking competitions (youth and adult) entry and contests held at 10:00 a.m.
Monday, October 2nd from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Exhibits entry pick up at the fairgrounds

How do I enter the livestock & poultry shows?

Livestock shows at the Haywood County Fair will be charging a small registration fee per head of livestock this year. These changes are going to help with funding for fair premiums. Fees are due by September 22nd, 2023 by exact cash or check mailed to: Kyla-Jo Farmer, N.C. Cooperative Extension; 589 Raccoon Rd., Suite 118, Waynesville, NC 28786.

There is NO COST for the special showmanship. Each head of beef is $5, a head of sheep/goat/pig is $3, and poultry is $2 per bird.

  • Check-in for all livestock, except swine and poultry, will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29th.
  • Poultry check-in and blood testing is from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27th.
  • Swine check-in is from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1st.

Friday, September 29th 6:00 p.m. Poultry Show Judging takes places, birds will be on display from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, October 8th

Saturday, September 30th 12:00 p.m. Beef Cattle Show
Sunday, October 1st 12:00 p.m. Dairy Show
Sunday, October 1st 2:00 p.m. Swine Show

Where to find entry forms and the 2023 fair book?

Online entry forms for livestock & poultry shows is ready for the 2023 fair!

This year’s fair book can be found online (2023 Haywood County Fair Book) or you may come by the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Haywood County Center at 589 Raccoon Road, Waynesville to pick up a printed copy.

If you are entering youth entries, filling out these drop-off tags will make it easier on entry day for you and your family (2023 Youth Drop-Off Tags). Just print off your tags at home and attach them to all of your child(ren)’s entries!
