The TEDxYouth@ChavisWay event is back, and it’s bigger, bolder, and more inspiring than ever before! This year, the theme is “From Here to Everywhere,” inviting young minds from the Triangle area to explore the profound impact of local ideas on a global scale. The event celebrates the power of individual and community efforts to transcend boundaries, bridging the gap from “here” to “everywhere.”

The Theme: “From Here to Everywhere”

The theme of this year’s TEDxYouth event is a captivating journey that intertwines personal experiences with universal aspirations. It highlights the idea that actions taken in our local communities can resonate globally. Speakers will delve into diverse topics from education to healthcare to climate change, showcasing the potential for positive change through their stories and ideas.

Application Details

1. Deadline for Submissions: December 4th is the last day to submit your application. If you have a unique idea worth spreading, don’t miss the chance to be part of this transformative event.

2. Eligibility: Speakers and performers must reside in the Triangle area, encompassing Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill and surrounding suburbs. Applicants must be between the ages of 10 and 19.

3. Talk Guidelines: Talks must be 8 minutes or less and adhere to TEDx content guidelines. Ideas worth spreading should focus on personal experiences and community impact without promoting political/religious agendas or commercial interests.

4. Application Process: The application process involves submitting a short video (1-2 minutes) outlining your TEDx talk idea or performance. Make sure to review TEDx content guidelines before applying.

5. Commitment: Successful applicants will need to commit to virtual and in-person dress rehearsals, and key deadlines throughout the preparation process.

Last Year’s Success: “Inspiring Change”

The inaugural TEDxYouth@ChavisWay event in March 2023, themed “Inspiring Change,” was a resounding success. Eleven incredible youth speakers and performers from across the Triangle shared their ideas and talents on the TEDx stage.

  1. Niko Wiguna: Explored the facets of youth, reassuring that everything will be alright.
  2. Raily Greca: Advocated for using stories to fight climate change.
  3. Camila Armas: Addressed the importance of civics education for a better U.S.
  4. Amy Li: Performed a traditional Chinese zither piece, “Fighting the Typhoon.”
  5. Courtney Lassiter: Advocated for the art world as a viable career choice for young creatives.
  6. Emily Pirhalla: Explored the challenges youth face today, from social media to LGBTQ+ issues.
  7. Hadi Rahim: Discussed the feasibility and benefits of universal healthcare.
  8. Sadie Schaecher: Focused on identifying and countering harmful messages for better mental health.
  9. Nimet Karabulut: Shared her experiences as an adolescent through spoken word poetry.
  10. Genesis Ijeomah: Explored the power of believing in our capabilities.
  11. Keertana Ramars: Advocated for greener schools and a greener future.
  12. Mili Soler: Discussed the negative effects of labeling youth.
  13. Sahas Vijayabaskar: Explored lessons humans can learn from ants and bees.
