Completing a System Access Request

Some roles in REPORTER require a SAR, or System Access Request, to be formally submitted through the MyPack Portal.

Please Note: These instructions are from the point of view of someone with the SAR approval role. Typically, there are one or two designated people who have this access within your department or group. If you are unsure of who this person is, we recommend talking to your supervisor or other coworkers to determine how your group manages System Access Requests.

The following roles require a SAR:

  • AthleticsLiaison*
  • CEUApprover*
  • College/Division Business Officer
  • ComplianceLiaison*
  • Course Liaison
  • Financial Administrator (Business Officer)
  • Financial Liaison (REPORTER Business Office only)
  • MinorsComplianceLiaison*
  • Participant Liaison (HR Rep access (More info)

* This role won’t be included as a specific option as defined in step 10, so be sure that - as stated in step 9 - you clearly identify in the comments section of the request details.

Step 1: Log into MyPack Portal - mypack.ncsu.edu

Step 2: Select the compass icon icon in the top left corner to expand the menu panel

Step 3: Select the Identity Management Option

Step 4: Select ‘Security Access / SAR’ then select ‘SAR’

Step 5: When the SAR homepage opens in a new tab or a new window (depending on the settings of the user's browser), click on the "Update Access" link.

Step 6: In the next screen, please search for the user to be granted reporter access to, by looking up for them either with their last name, or their Employee ID, then click on the "Search" button.

Step 7: You should be able to see the user you desire to give Reporter access to, in the list. Please highlight the name of the user from the list, and scroll through the list if needed in order to do so. Then click on the "Continue" button.

Step 8: In the next screen, scroll down the list of Accounts, till you see the "Reporter" option. Please highlight that option, then click on the "Continue" button.

Step 9: In the next screen, (1) in the "Comments" section, please mention the Reporter roles the user needs, as well as the OUC they need for each Reporter role being requested. Then (2) , once the comment has been entered, without clicking the "Preview Request" button, click on the 2nd tab, which is the "Role - Collection Selection" tab.

Step 10: In the Roles selection tab, please select the Reporter roles needed in the box on the left, then use the top-most button (the one with the single arrow facing right) to move the selected role(s) to the box on the right.

**If you do not see the relevant role in this list, be sure to identify it within the comments section as in the previous step. If you are unable to proceed without picking another role, please select ‘Administrator + Backup’

  • AthleticsLiaison*
  • CEUApprover*
  • ComplianceLiaison*
  • MinorsComplianceLiaison*

Then click on the "Preview Request" button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 11: In the next screen, verify that the details of the SAR request look correct - please keep in mind though, that at this point, the SAR request has NOT been submitted. Please ensure that the roles being requested match with the comment entered, and that the comment has the right 2-digit/4-digit OUC entered. If you need to change the comment or the roles being request, please click on the "Back" button on the bottom of the page to go back to the previous screen. Once all the desired changes are done, please click on the "Preview Request" button, then click on the "Complete Request" button to submit the request.

Step 12: This screen is where you will get the details of the submitted SAR request, one of which is the Request ID. This number can be used to track the progress or status of the request. Once the SAR request has gone through all stages of approval needed, and has been completed successfully, the user who entered the SAR request will get an email from SAR indicating that it has been completed.

In case of questions with SAR, or the process of requesting Reporter roles through SAR, please contact the IDM Access Management by sending an email to: oit_access_mgmt@help.ncsu.edu
