Cybersecurity Concentration Adjunct Interest Form
The Department of Computer Science at NC State University is seeking cybersecurity professionals as adjunct instructors for courses that are part of the Cybersecurity Concentration for BS in Computer Science students. We are seeking adjunct professors from industry and government to propose and teach these courses, as they will bring with them immense practical experience that will be invaluable to our students. Due to the overhead in curriculum development, we hope that courses can be offered multiple times (if successful); however, we are only looking for one-semester commitments at this time.

There are two ways to get involved:

1) CSC 297 Cybersecurity Topics - sophomore-level, 1 credit courses.  Students will take three CSC 297s, each on different cybersecurity topics. Due to the sophomore-level course classification, the course should not be too technical (students may only have a semester or two of programming experience). Example topics include (but not limited to): security analytics, security operations, usable security and privacy, social engineering, security and privacy regulations compliance.  The course is offered once a week for 50-minutes for a 15-week fall or spring semester.

2) CSC 471 Modern Topics in Security - senior-level, 5-week module in a 3 credit course.  Students will take CSC 471 in Fall of their senior year.  The course will be broken into three 5-week modules with each module taught by potentially different instructors.  The modules should cover technical and emerging cybersecurity topics at some depth.  The course is offered twice a week for 75-minutes.  One module would cover a 5-week portion of the semester.  There is the potential to teach multiple modules in the same semester or to have a module span a longer timeframe, but this would require discussion with faculty and other instructors.

If you have multiple ideas, we ask that you fill out the form for each idea to help us keep track of possible courses and modules.

If you are interested in teaching one of these courses, please fill out the below form. Please direct any questions to Doug Reeves <reeves@ncsu.edu>, Sarah Heckman <sarah_heckman@ncsu.edu>, and William Enck <whenck@ncsu.edu>.

We are requesting that applicants for the next academic year apply before February 1st.  For example, applicants for academic year 2021-2022 would apply before February 1st, 2021.
