About this event

The Pasture Walk & Sheep Workshop will take place at Living Well Farm in Liberty, NC. We will start the evening with a farm introduction/overview with farm owner, Geoff Morrison before we dive into the workshop topics. This on-farm workshop will look at different forage systems such as annuals/perennials, warm/cool-season, novel endophyte fescue, and silvopasture. We will also take a look at small ruminant handling facility design along with a herding/handling demonstration. You will be able to see a visual on all of the topics discussed.

Living Well Farm received an NC AgVentures Grant in 2022 to help them convert Kentucky 31 fescue to novel endophyte fescue. This grant project will be featured during the workshop.

The program will start promptly at 5:30 pm (please arrive a few minutes early to check-in) and conclude at 7:30 pm. You will be required to wear boot covers or step in a foot bath for biosecurity measures at check-in. Please wear appropriate attire for walking around a farm and being near sheep. I highly suggest wearing sunscreen, insect spray, etc.

There will be a portable restroom on-site. Light refreshments including water will be available. There will be moderate walking involved. You are also welcome to bring a folding chair for the times where we will not be walking.
