Is your child interested in learning to prepare food? Are they curious about where food comes from? Currituck County 4-H is hosting a multi-county, 3-day Culinary Workshop for youth ages 9 to 14. Participants will engage in hands-on cooking challenges that involve food preparation techniques, insight into local food programs, and investigations into the importance of healthy eating and physical activity.

Your child will learn the basics of kitchen safety, kitchen etiquette, and will have the opportunity to prepare a variety of foods including main dishes, snacks, desserts, and appetizers. He or she will also have the opportunity to participate in a “Chopped Challenge” on the final day of the camp. The workshop will take place June 17–19, from 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., at the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Currituck County at 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917.

The tuition for this camp is $35.00 and includes a field trip to a local farm, lunch, and snacks for each of the days, and goodies for your child to bring home.

Pre-registration is required including $35.00 tuition. You can register online at Culinary Academy. Payment must be received within 5 business days of registering and can be made in person at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center or by mailing a check made payable to “Currituck County” to 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917. Enrollment in 4HOnline is also required for all participants. If you have not already completed this form you can access it at 4HOnline.
