School of Social Work Community and Friends,

As the year winds down, I want each of you to know how much we value and appreciate our relationship and community with you as a School. I am proud of the ways in which we have connected with one another during challenging times in order to find peace and hope. I especially appreciate our ability to come together and envision innovative ways to solve complex problems even across our different lived experiences, identities, and beliefs. This is a strength of our School community and the pulse by which we continue to move forward as a thriving organization.

We have had a remarkable Fall semester and I am excited to share these announcements featuring some of the accomplishments of our faculty, staff, and students.

As we continue to Lead Change Together, I continue to look forward to ways in which our School will make an indelible impact on expanding the social work workforce across all practice settings.

As always, I look forward to our continued partnership together--may we remember to lift as we climb!

Dr. Yarneccia D. Dyson

Executive Director and Head of the School of Social Work

Lift As You Climb

It is known that application fees can serve as a barrier of access to graduate school education. In the spirit of accessibility and inclusion, this program was established during the Fall of 2023 by Dr. Yarneccia D. Dyson (Executive Director & Head of the School of Social Work) to increase opportunity to pursue graduate degrees by students who may experience hardships and other structural barriers.

The purpose of this fund is to provide fee waiver stipend support for students applying to the MSW Program at North Carolina State University.

***Please note that you MUST complete the Formal application for Graduate Enrollment at NC State University. Additionally, the **priority deadline* for the MSW Program is January 5, 2024.

The LAYC Fund has limited resources, therefore, applications are reviewed on a case by case scenario. Applicants will receive a decision within 2 weeks of completing their application.

For additional questions, please contact Dr. Yarneccia D. Dyson at yddyson@ncsu.edu and indicate "LAYC Fund" in the Subject line of your email.
